The film tells the story of how 20-year-old Mark Zuckerberg (Jesse Eisenberg) was contracted by three fellow Harvard students to create an online version of the university's "facebook" (yearbook).
Egged on by "older" entrepreneur Sean Parker (Justin Timberlake), Mr Zuckerberg goes on to take the concept to the entire US, then the world - eclipsing Rupert Murdoch on the Forbes Rich List in the process.
