UPDATED: DDB has a new executive creative director lined up, Andy Fackrell from 180 Amsterdam.
Described as a "bit of a legend" by outgoing executive creative director (ECD) Tony Talbot, who is off to DDB Europe for a secondment in 2012, Kiwi Mr Fackrell has produced global campaigns for adidas and work for the All Blacks. Prior to his nine years at 180 Amsterdam, Mr Fackrell worked on Nike for Weiden + Kennedy Portland.
Mr Fackrell said he was looking forward to getting stuck into doing work with the culture he had grown up in.
"DDB has a pretty awesome client roster with clients that appreciate big ideas. During my year I want to build on what Toby and the team have created, and to get the world talking about those ideas."

Friday: DDB New Zealand has announced a new creative director, straight from DraftFCB, Chris Schofield.
Mr Schofield is creative director for DraftFCB, this year’s most effective campaign and agency winners at the Effies.
Apparently, DraftFCB is sometimes known in the industry as ‘CultFCB’ for the length of time staff remain with the agency and Mr Schofield has been there for six years.
But he leaves for his first day with DDB on November 9, which will also soon announce a new executive creative director when Tony Talbot heads overseas to spend 2012 seconded to DDB Europe as regional creative director on VW.
In a release, Mr Talbot said Mr Schofield was one of the most respected creative talents in the country.
“He has a great track record with big brands and more awards than it is decent for any one chap to hold. He is also quite bald so he will fit right in with his fellow CDs, Steve Kane and Aaron Goldring.”
Mr Schofield has also worked for Colenso BBDO from 2000 and Saatchi & Saatchi in 2004.
Mr Schofield said the main attraction was DDB’s world class work, which was very visible, “which is a rare thing in adland. Producing the best work for the big clients.”
He said his aim would be to maintain the creative momentum DDB had achieved and also to help progress it.
“The timing feels right, and although exciting, it is bitter-sweet, having to farewell some great people at DraftFCB, like executive creative director James Mok and especially my creative partner Billy McQueen who I have been with for over 10 years.”
