The New Zealand dollar has set another high against the greenback of 88.16USc (according to Bloomberg) as Washington has two days to raise the $US 14.3 trillion debt limit.

The Kiwi last traded at US 86.61c against the greenback on Friday, according to Thompson Reuters data.

US lawmakers are still trying to cobble together a deal to raise the debt ceiling – the limit of how much the US can borrow to pay its bills.

The debt impasse has fuelled demand for growth-linked currencies such as the Kiwi.
