Downer wins major Western Australia contract

Downer EDI (NZX: DOW) has won an electrical and instrumentation contract valued at over $142 million.

The contract is for works in the Pilbara region, Western Australia, located about 1,600 km from Perth. The company provides engineering and infrastructure management services across various sectors in the Australasia and Asia Pacific regions, as well as in the United Kingdom.

Downer has previously been involved in other large scale projects in the Pilbara region.

Work will commence in late 2011 and is expected to be completed by second quarter 2013.
