A former Taranaki dairy herd manager who swore uncouthly at cows has been awarded $6800 after being unfairly dismissed over allegations he broke a cow's tail.

Brett Mathys worked on Suzy and Ross Bolton's Egmont Village dairy farm when the alleged incident occurred in December 2010.
