Firefox 4 out of beta and into the browser war

Firefox 4 is out of beta and apparently it's faster than ever.

Firefox 4 is no longer in beta and Time’s Techland reports it’s faster than any of the beta versions.

The browser is available from FileForum for Windows, Linux and Mac, or those with patience can wait for the final release to be posted on the website

Lifehacker reported that the browser was available for download on Mozilla’s FTP servers yesterday but that people were discouraged from doing so since the servers were not built to handle release traffic.

The first beta version of the new browser reportedly followed Google Chrome’s lead in streamlining windows, with tabs above the address bar, Techland reports, and other new changes such as the ability to sync across multiple devices, organise tabs and new tab locations.

More importantly, Firefox 4 includes increased privacy protection (see Techland’s browser privacy comparison for IE9, Google Chrome 10 and Firefox 4), full HTML5 support and updated crash protection, meaning one crashed plugin won’t crash the entire browser.
