Fishpond says $50K fine for selling illegal Garmin dog tracking device 'excessive'

UPDATED: Online retailer says no members of the public bought the illegal items, only MBIE investigators.

Fishpond general manager Ben Powles is kicking back against a $50,000 fine imposed on his company for selling an illegal dog tracker.

"We believe the fine is excessive and we are considering our options," he tells NBR.

He says his online retail operation offers more than 15 million items for sale
