Food prices higher in November
Food prices rose 0.2% in November and increased 1.9% in the year to November (compared with 1.1% for the year to October 2011).

Food prices rose 0.2% in November with higher prices in four of the five subgroups, according to Statistics New Zealand.
The food price index contributes almost 19% to the consumer price index.
A seasonal fall in the price of fruit and vegetables (down 4%) was countered by rising prices in other subgroups, including grocery food (up 0.7%) which rose in November after three consecutive monthly falls.
For the year to November 2011, food prices increased 1.9%, compared with 1.1% for the year to October 2011.
Four of the five food subgroups had annual price increases: grocery food (up 3.3%), restaurant meals and ready-to-eat food (up 2.4%), non-alcoholic beverages (up 4.2%), and meat, poultry, and fish (up 3.2%).
In the year to November 2011, the fruit and vegetables subgroup decreased 7.2%, influenced by lower prices for both vegetables (down 8.8%) and fruit (down 6.1%).
