Forgery-charged ex SFO lawyer back in court
Anita Killeen - accused of sending forged emails to NBR and the NZ Herald - tries to keep police from accessing information on computers seized from her home.
Forgery-charged ex SFO lawyer Anita Killeen is due to appear in Auckland’s High Court this morning – trying to keep information on her seized computer from the police.
Ms Killeen, 35, is accused of forging emails in an attempt to smear her former boss, SFO director Adam Feeley.
Ms Killeen’s Queens Counsel Paul Davison told NBR his client will be applying for legal privilege in the High Court over information on the computers seized from her home.
NBR understands she will apply for a judicial review over the status of material on her computers, seized by police last year.
Ms Killeen faces four charges in the district court under the Crimes Act relating to accessing the SFO’s computer systems, modifying an email and distributing the modified email to newsrooms at the National Business Review and the New Zealand Herald.
The charges allege Ms Killeen – who was earlier remanded at large and required to surrender her passport – created a forged email, purporting to be from Mr Feeley, and intended for it to be acted on as if genuine
Mr Feeley has denied writing the email.
Ms Killeen was made redundant amidst restructuring at the SFO in 2010 and is now an Auckland barrister at Barrister at City Chambers - headed by John Haigh QC.
