TV3 has named the team for 3rd Degree, the show that will replace 60 Minutes. It features many familiar names, but not 60 Minutes front man Mike McRoberts.
Duncan Garner and Guyon Espiner will front new current affairs programme 3rd Degree, which will screen from next year. TV3 says a timeslot has yet to be scheduled.
The weekly one-hour programme will feature stories from reporters including Paula Penfold, Sarah Hall, Guyon Espiner and Melanie Reid (the core 60 Minutes team), and new additions Phil Vine and Samantha Hayes.
'3rd Degree' is executive produced by Terence Taylor (currently executive producer of '60 Minutes').
'60 Minutes' finishes on TV3 on Sunday December 2.
The series won Best Current Affairs Series at the recent New Zealand Television Awards 2012. Melanie Reid and producer Eugene Bingham shared the Investigation of the Year award for their work on Bronwyn Pullar and the ACC privacy breach. Melanie was named Journalist of the Year, while Best Current Affairs Camera went to Daniel Grade and Best Current Affairs Editing to Bob Grieve.
TV3 owner MediaWorks did not renew a content deal with CBS (which owns rights to 60 Minutes). The CBS deal expires at the end of this year.
