Gift duty to go by October

Abolition of gift duty will go ahead from October 1.

Parliament’s finance and expenditure select committee this afternoon reported back on the Tax (Administration and Remedial Matters) and the report gives the thumbs up to abolishing the duty.

Collecting the duty costs $430,000 a year
