George Gould has resigned as a director of Pyne Gould Corp - an agreed condition of him taking up the role of managing director of PGG Wrightson.

Mr Gould takes up the role at PGG Wrightson from tomorrow. PGG Wrightson is currently subject to bid for control from Agria (Singapore) Pte Ltd, which has a lock up agreement with Pyne Gould Corp relating to its 18.3 percent stake in PGG Wrightson.

"Whilst George was making a valuable contribution to the PGC board, it was a condition of him accepting the PGG Wrightson role that he step down from our board. We thank him for his contributions to Pyne Gould Corp over the years and wish him all the best in his new role," Bruce Irvine, Pyne Gould Corp's chairman, said.

Pyne Gould Corp does not intend to appoint a replacement director at this time.

Mr Gould was managing director of Pyne Gould Guinness and led the merger with Reid Farmers in 2001, according to the Pyne Gould Corp annual report.

He was managing director of South Eastern Utilities from 1994 to 2001. He was a director of Pyne Gould Corp from 1990 to 2004 and was elected to the board again in March 2010. Mr Gould is a descendent of one of the founding families.
