The poll showed support for the Government at 53 percent (down 6.5 points) and support for the National Party at 49 percent (down 6 points). Labour was up 5.5 points at 34.5 percent.
The Maori Party got 3 percent, ACT 1 percent, and the Greens 6.5 percent with little movement from the last poll.
New Zealand First would be back on the poll results at 5.5 percent.
On whether New Zealand was heading in the right direction confidence fell 3 points to 129.5 with 57 percent (down 2.5 points) in the affirmative compared to 27.5 percent (up 0.5) in the negative.
The telephone poll of 908 votes was conducted from January 17-30.
