Police are seeking search warrants for several media organisations as the "teapot-gate tapes" row escalates.
Both Radio New Zealand and Television New Zealand today confirmed the police had asked them to hand over all relevant material and had indicated that failure to do so would be followed by a move to seek search warrants.
The Herald on Sunday and TV3 are also understood to be targets of similar action - although Herald on Sunday editor Bryce Johns says no police approach has been made.
None of the organisations have handed over any information.
Police are following up a complaint from Prime Minister John Key about the meeting, staged between himself and ACT Epsom candidate John Banks, being illicitly taped by a freelance cameraman.
