Allan Hubbard says he wants to take back control of one of his prized businesses by the end of this year.
The 82-year-old Timaru accountant is being investigated for fraud after the Government seized all his assets in June.
He told the Timaru Herald the Government would be proved wrong and that it would have pay the bill for putting him into statutory management.
At a launch of his biography, Allan Hubbard: A Man Out of Time, by Virginia Green, Mr Hubbard said he would return to business.
"I'm in advanced talks to take over Hubbard Managed Funds by the end of the year," he said.
Then he would take back control of his other investment company Aorangi Securities, also in statutory management, Mr Hubbard said.
Green told the 50 people at the launch that the Government destroyed Mr Hubbard's South Canterbury Finance in a "controlled demolition". The company failed in August, prompting a $1.7 billion payout.
