Ignoring 2degrees complaints, Vodafone plugs on-net txt deal

More reward for messaging people on the same network.

2degrees recently told NBR that although the mobile termination rate debate is – finally – wrapping up this week, some big competitive issues remain.

One of the carrier's key points of complaint is so-called on-net plans, which offer steep discounts when you call, or txt, customers on the same network.

2degrees maintains that on-net pricing is a barrier to new entrants (Vodafone counters that 2degrees is doing quite nicely, thank you very much).

Anyhow, if Vodafone is cheerfully pushing forward with an expansion of its flagship on-net txt deal for pre-pay customers.

That company said today that it is more than doubling the number of messages covered by its TXT2000 deal, giving prepay customers 5000 on-net txts per month for $10.

Vodafone also introduced a new plan called TXT NZ, which lets customers send 2500 txts to any any network for $12 per month.

Both offers launch Wednesday, March 23.
