The IoD is delighted to announce that Willy Trolove, a communications director in the Prime Minister’s Office, will join its leadership team in 2016 as External Relations Manager.

IoD Chief Executive Simon Arcus says Mr Trolove will bring exceptional strategic and stakeholder management experience to the new External Relations role.

“We are aware of Willy’s track record in the Prime Minister’s Office and knew his experience would add significant value to the IoD and its members,” Mr Arcus says.

“As our membership continues to grow, Willy will be able to help us continue to strengthen our priorities to meet the needs and expectations of our members, particularly in the areas of government relations.”

Mr Trolove, who was the director of the Government Research and Communications Unit within the office of the Rt. Hon John Key, will lead the sponsorship and stakeholder management portfolios for the IoD.

This role will add additional focus on the oversight, operations and compliance with the IoD’s continuing professional development and Chartered membership categories.

In 2014 the IoD introduced the Chartered Membership pathway, to raise the professionalism of directors and demonstrate to the market what sets IoD members apart.

Mr Trolove has worked in the Prime Minister’s office since February 2007.  He graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) (Hons) from Canterbury University in 1997, and worked as an engineer in New Zealand and London before changing his career path.
