Internet Mana – 1% with a bullet
Poll puts pressure on Hone Harawira to hold Te Tai Tokerau.
Poll puts pressure on Hone Harawira to hold Te Tai Tokerau.
Internet Mana has taken a hit in the latest DigiPoll, slumping to a mere 1%.
In July the alliance scored 2.2% in the DigiPoll; in August; 2.1%.
Two weeks ago Internet Mana polled 3.5%, which would mean four MPs in Parliament, if Mana leader Hone Harawira were to hold on to his Te Tai Tokerau seat.
But the downward trend has continued: last week Mana Internet scored 2.3% in the DigiPoll, then dropped another 1.3% in the past 7 days, probably assisted by an underwhelming “Moment of Truth”.
And Mr Harawira’s grip on Te Tai Tokerau has been loosening, with other parties – including NZ First’s Winston Peters – lining up to sing the praises of the opponent he’s currently neck and neck with, Labour’s Kelvin Davis.
In the past two general elections, National has secured around 1800 party votes in Te Tai Tokerau. In 2011, incumbent MP and Mana Party leader Hone Harawira beat Mr Davis by 1165 votes but lost 5000 from his previous majority in the process.
According to the Maori Television Reid Research poll released Monday, which had 500 respondents, the Mana party leader has 38% support, Mr Davis 37%, and the Maori Party's Te Hira Paenga a mere 9.4%.
