The tablet will not be available through Vodafone stores, but all New Zealand iPads will come with a Vodafone New Zealand Micro-SIM card installed.
Vodafone will offer dedicated data plans (more of which below), but will not offer any kind of subsidy for the iPad itself - a discount precluded by the fact that sales are through Apple and its resellers.
The pricing (all incl GST):
16GB WiFi: $799
32GB WiFi: $979
64GB WiFi: $1179
16GB 3G + WiFi: $999
32GB 3G + WiF: $1179
64GB + WiF3G: $1349
There is no word yet on the accompanying iBookStore download service.
Vodafone New Zealand has said it will have dedicated iPad 3G data plans, but has yet to provide details.
A spokesman - apparently caught on the hop by Apple's announcement this morning - said he hoped to be able to announce details shortly.
Vodafone Australia has already provided pricing for a number of dedicated iPad 3G data deals, including a $A49.95 unlimited plan.
To help jog along Vodafone NZ's thinking, NBR once again offers a screen grab of the pricing that will be offered by its sibling across the Tasman (read more details here):
Meanwhile, Black+White has joined the small army of telcos and MVNOs (including Telecom, Orcon and 2degrees) now queuing to undermine Vodafone NZ's official Apple carrier status by releasing an iPad 3G (and iPhone 4) Micro-SIM.
B+W boss Johnathan Eele told NBR yesterday that his company was buying iPhones - in the same manner as Gen-i - then selling them on to its customers.
Mr Eele said his company had Micro-SIMs on order.
