ABOVE: A visitor from The Hawkes Bay Advertiser lays his hands on the tablet.
An Apple iPad was being flashed around Vodafone’s Auckland headquarters today, with passing journalists checking out eye-candy like the BBC’s silky-smooth app.
Lining up a viewing, Private Bin inquired whether this meant Vodafone NZ would - like Vodafone UK, Vodafone Spain, Vodafone Italy, Vodafone Germany and (gag) Vodafone Australia – sell the 3G version of the iPad.
A company rep would only say that Vodafone “would love to sell it” but that nobody knows anything yet about iPad 3G release dates, or who would have dibs on selling it.
The iPad being twirled around Vodafone this afternoon belonged to a member of the company’s marketing department, who bought it during a jaunt to the US. It’s the entry-level wi-fi model - which, itself, has no NZ release date yet.
Sigh. The wait continues.
