Telecom Retail will announce later this morning that former MediaWorks chief executive Jason Paris has been appointed chief marketing officer.

Mr Paris has been working out his notice from home after resigning from MediaWorks in June.

It is understood he has come to an agreement with MediaWorks to end his notice period early.

He will begin at Telecom on September 19.

Won't always have Paris
Mr Paris departed MediaWorks amid claims of a power struggle between himself and managing director Sussan Turner.

Telecom’s current chief marketing officer, Kieran Cooney, came under sustained criticism recently after he fronted the now-canned “Abstain for the Game” marketing campaign.

Mr Cooney's next port of call is as communications manager for Australia's National Broadband Network.
