A rise of 13% in Auckland's median house price to $720,000 this month from $637,000 in March last year has prompted the bank to look at policy choices to dampen the market's heat.

The Reserve Bank’s murmurings about a capital gains tax could throw up some interesting economic and market possibilities if it ever eventuates, funds manager Harbour Asset Management reckons.
