Next month John Key will become the first New Zealand prime minister to address the Australian parliament.

Next month John Key will become the first New Zealand prime minister to address the Australian parliament.

Mr Key will be in Australia from June 19 to 21. He will address parliament in Canberra on June 20.

“I am grateful for this rare opportunity, which I will use to reinforce the strong transtasman links that bind our two countries so closely together, “ Mr Key said.

He will also meet with his Australian counterpart, Julia Gillard and hold talks with cabinet.

Mr Key will also attend a private charity fundraising gala that is raising money for the New Zealand government's Christchurch earthquake appeal.
