Kiwis 'sold out' by farm sale con job - Peters
It's nothing but a "con job", declares Winston Peters.

It's nothing but a "con job".
Winston Peters says all New Zealanders have been sold out by the government’s sale of the Crafar farms to a company majority-owned by the "communist government of China".
“This government has rubber-stamped the sale of prime Kiwi farmland to Milk New Zealand – a front for Chinese-based Shanghai Pengxin – despite the High Court saying the original decision to sell the farms held no benefit to New Zealanders.
“The government has twisted the rules so the land could be sold to foreign interests but the changes they made to the original sales agreement is simply window dressing and part of the overall con job.
“The whole sales process has been a shonky, jack-up job between Prime Minister John Key, his ministers, and the communist government of China."
NZ First leader and MP Mr Peters says there is nothing in the new sales agreement that benefits New Zealanders .
"That is unsurprising, given the National Party’s unrelenting push to sell off the country, no matter the cost to ordinary Kiwis.
“New Zealanders won’t forget this treachery and betrayal in a hurry,” Mr Peters says.
“But this land can always be bought back at a later date. That is something New Zealand First will work towards."
Mr Peters told NBR ONLINE he hopes the Sir Michael Fay-led consortium presses on with its legal challenge.
The group recently lodged an appeal, claiming Shanghai Pengxin doesn't have the business acumen or relevant experience relating to the dairy farm investment.
"I don't believe this deal can stack up in an investigation," Mr Peters says.
He says there are some parties in Parliament who'll act in the national interest.
"Take United Future - why aren't they acting on it? What about the Maori Party? They know that 9 out of 10 Maori are against this deal."
