18-year-old wins in France.

Mon, 14 Sep 2015

Lydia Ko won the Evian Championship in France by six shots earlier this morning NZ time, making her the youngest-ever winner of a women's major by six months.

The win also confirmed her status as one of New Zealand's highest-ever earning sports people, despite being just 18 years, four months and 20 days old.

The world No 2 collected $US487,000 ($785,000) for her victory, taking her career earnings to $US4.3 million ($6.8 million).

"Winning a major at any age is special but to become the youngest is pretty cool. It's also nice that it is over – no one will ask me about it again," Ms Ko said after her win.
