Labour would lift the age of eligibility for superannuation, it has been revealed.

NBR understands it will support the recommendation of the Retirement Commissioner to lift the age to 67.

The party is due to announce its retirement and savings policy at 3pm today but media outlets have stolen its thunder by releasing details about the policy early.

One of the outlets that reported the new policy said it obtained a copy of it prior to its official release at 3pm.

Prime Minister John Key has repeatedly said National would not lift the age of eligibility.
