Legal age:
• return the minimum purchase age for alcohol to 20 (no exceptions)

Hours of trading, licensing
• introduce national maximum closing hours for both on and off-licences (4am and 10pm respectively)
• increase the ability of local people to influence how and where alcohol is
sold in their communities

Pricing
• Increase excise 50%, thus raising the price of alcoholic products by an average of 10%. Examples:
• 330ml bottle or can of beer (4% alcohol) will rise 11c from $1.33 to $1.50
• 750ml bottle of wine (12.5%) will rise from $11 to $11.96
• 750ml bottle of spirits (40%) will rise from $40 to 46.96
• 330ml RTD (5%) will rise from $2 to $2.21

Legislation
• introduction of a new Alcohol Harm Reduction Act to replace existing laws
• strengthen the rights and responsibilities of parents for the supply of
alcohol to minors

Advertising and sponsorship
• regulate irresponsible promotions that encourage the excessive consumption, or purchase, of alcohol;
• move over time to regulate alcohol advertising and sponsorship

Law enforcement
• increase personal responsibility for unacceptable or harmful behaviours
induced by alcohol, including a civil cost recovery regime ($200 fine) for those picked up by the police when grossly intoxicated
