Alan McDonald has joined lobbyist and PR outfit Exceltium as general manager, says managing director Matthew Hooton (an NBR columnist).
Mr McDonald is a one-time journalist with the Auckland Star, which closed in 1991.
He leaves a position as director of Star Public Relations to take up his new role.
At Star, Mr McDonald was best known for representing the Michael Fay-led consortium's unsuccessful bid for the Crafar farms.
His CV also includes work on "reputation issues" for South Canterbury Finance.
Mr McDonald will be based in Exceltium's Auckland office. He starts August 1.
