A scheduled appearance today by four Lombard Finance directors on criminal charges in the Wellington District Court has been put off until the end of the month.

The criminal charges, laid by the Securities Commission in April, relate to allegedly false statements in a 2007 prospectus and carry a maximum penalty of five years’ imprisonment or fines of up to $300,000.

The Securities Commission has laid parallel civil charges on the same allegations.

The directors - Sir Douglas Graham, Michael Reeves, Bill Jeffries and Lawrence Bryant - are expected to defend all charges.

NBR understands that today’s scheduled appearance will now take place on September 28.
