Influential musician Lou Reed is dead at 71, Rolling Stone reports.
The cause of his death was not immediately released, but the New Yorker had a liver transplant in May.
Mr Reed was a co-founder of alternative rock group The Velvet Underground, which collaborated with Andy Warhol.
His work as a solo artist included Perfect Day (a charity version of which hit number one in the UK in 1997), Sweet Jane, Satellite of Love and Walk on the Wildside.
Mr Reed is survived by his second wife, Laurie Anderson.
