RadioLIVE's drive host Maggie Barry has quit, effective 22 December.
In a statement Ms Barry said she was leaving to pursue other projects.
"I have enjoyed my time at RadioLIVE, there's never a dull moment and I will miss my colleagues and, of course, our loyal listeners," she said.
"Hosting a daily radio show has been stimulating but it is enormously time consuming and I want more flexibility to travel and write and do other things."
While the station was keen to stress any decision on a replacement host would not be made until after the New Year, speculation mounts that Paul Henry will return to the station.
Mr Henry resigned from TVNZ's Breakfast program earlier this year after making controversial remarks, and he has been between jobs since
Mr Henry occupied the Drive slot before Ms Barry took over.
He resigned the slot under pressure from TVNZ (RadioLIVE is owned by MediaWorks, which includes TV3 in its stable).
Reached for comment, Mr Henry told NBR he had just returned from a month abroad and did not respond to questions about the job opening.
"I've got no comment to make about any of my plans," he said.
