The opening ceremony and the live coverage of All Blacks versus Tonga game was the most watched event in New Zealand television history, with cumulative audiences surpassing Tua v Lewis, The Royal Wedding and the 2003 Rugby World Cup Final.
The 18+ cumulative audiences surpassed 1.7 million people, with over 50% of the population tuning in, according to OMD analysis.
Between September 14 and 20, live games have been screened on Sky Sport 1 and Maori TV and delayed coverage and highlights have aired on TV1 and TV 3. On days where Maori TV had live screenings, it has outperformed Sky Sport 1.
The delayed games aired on Maori TV have attained better ratings in comparison with the live games shown on Sky Sport 1. However, the figures do not take into account out of home viewing such as at fan zones and bars
