The cost of registering a prospectus is to rise seven-fold from August 1.
New financial reporting and securities fees announced today by the Companies Office hike the current fee by $2000 from $327.11 to $2327.11 for both manual and online filing.
The extra $2000 is a new Financial Markets Authority levy.
The cost of registering financial statements remains the same at $255.55.
Filing a online annual return for a New Zealand company will no longer be free and will incur a new fee of $45.
With more than 500,000 companies in New Zealand that new fee alone has potential to generate a cash pool of $22.5 million.
Some modest increases, and a couple of minor reductions, make up a range of changes to other fees.
Registration fees for friendly societies, credit unions and limited partnerships will be reduced slightly, while a new $270 fee for registration of a building society will be introduced.
A statement from the Companies Offices says the new fee structure “addresses a funding deficit and better reflects the true cost of delivering services to the users of Companies Office registers.”
New Financial Markets Authority and External Reporting Board levies are generally $10 each on each filing.
