APN has moved a chunk of its magazine distribution business from Netlink to Gordon & Gotch.

The change will take effect on July 1 and covers eight titles: NZ Woman’s Weekly, the New Zealand Listener, New Idea, That’s Life!, Simply You, Simply You Living, Creme and Girlfriend.

The titles are part of APN’s NZ Magazines business and are already printed by Gordon & Gotch parent company PMP.

The new agreement means a quicker turnaround time from production through to newsstand.

NZ Magazines publisher and chief executive Sarah Sandley said the switch to Gordon & Gotch makes sense due to efficiency and cost effectiveness.

“NZ Magazines sells some of the highest volume publications in the country so our distribution partner has to provide us with the best retail profile, and merchandising, nationwide.”

PMP executive general manager Peter Browne said the new agreement is evidence of the attractiveness of PMP’s supply chain model, as it can reduce complexity for publishers.

“Any other model involving multiple suppliers simply cannot match what we are able to provide because any delay in time to the shop shelf or mailbox means news is later than necessary.”

In October PMP will move to a new 29,000sq m site in Manukau to bring its head office, printing plant, warehousing and distribution under one roof.
