Crown entity Real Estate Agents Authority has finally found a new chief executive, four months after previous head Janet Mazenier quit just six months into the job.

The industry watchdog formed in November last year faced controversy since it was revealed senior manager Jon Moss was being investigated for criminal activity and that it is doubling the amount of fees it charges real estate agents.

New chief executive Keith Manch has come from a senior role at the Department of Internal Affairs and previous worked as general manager of the Ministry of Consumer Affairs.

Mr Manch will begin his new position at the authority in January.
