New ECD, MD for Publicis Mojo

Tue, 30 Nov 2010

Publicis Mojo has made a double trouble move.

It’s hired South African Mike Barnwell as ECD to replace Steve McKenzie, while also promoting Robert Harvey from Zenith Optimedia to group managing director across ZO and Mojo.

Mr Barnwell comes with an excellent reputation, although his latest gig, ECD at Lowe Sydney, only lasted three months.

Mr Barnwell isn’t talking on that one, although Ad Hoc's well-placed Sydney sources reckon Lowe isn't the easiest of workplaces. Happily, his track record at Network BBDO, FCB and Grey in South Africa speaks for itself.

He’s pulled to Aotearoa by its creative reputation.

“Mojo's longstanding creative pedigree is well known, and New Zealand is notorious for punching well above its weight creatively. Both these factors make this an incredibly exciting opportunity,” he said.

Chairman Graeme Wills said Mr Harvey’s appointment is intended to drive both brands in the market.

“In particular, he will leverage our signature strength of bringing consumer connections to life with powerful creative ideas.”

He’s been running ZO for just over a year after leaving TBWA for the role.

Another appointment will be made to fill his shoes somewhat on the ZO side.
