Apple confirms event Thursday week NZ time.
Apple has scheduled an event for September 12 (September 13 NZT) "where the company will reveal its latest iPhone", according to a New York Times report.
The Times' story quotes "a person briefed on the company’s plans, who declined to be named because those plans had not yet been made public".
As usual, Apple is tight lipped on the event, refusing to confirm if it is for a new iPhone, let alone discussing any features.
Reports in the Wall Street Journal maintain the key feature of the new handset will be a larger display, said to be 3.9 or 4 inches to the current models 3.5.
On the Google Android side of the fence, Samsung and others have super-sized screens – albeit at some cost to battery life.
Samsung's latest flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S3, has a 4.8-inch display.
The Korean company has just previewed the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, which takes smartphone screen size to new record of 5.5-inches.
