Starbucks has garnered some astonished media coverage for a new super-super size drink option the coffee chain is introducing for its US customers.

The new "Trenta" cup has a capacity of 916ml - exceeding the capacity of the average human stomach (900ml).

An impractical design?

Not according to NBR editor-in-chief and NBR Food Industry News editor Nevil Gibson, who noted that "stomachs can be expanded".

The above graphic (click to zoom), created by the National Post, was popularised by HuffPo, and has duly gone viral.

Will the Trenta itself enjoy the same success?

We'll find out after Starbucks introduces the new ultra-size cup on February 14.
