Newshub poll has gap closing but Nats still ahead
Same period as 1 News-Colmar Brunton poll but slightly better for Bill English and his party.

A new poll from Newshub-Reid Research has the gap between the two major parties narrowing to its closest in a decade.
However, unlike the 1 News-Colmar Brunton poll released Thursday night (Labour 43%, National 41%), Jacinda Ardern's party still trails as National slips 1.1 points to 43.3% and Labour rises 6.3 points to 39.4%.
According to a Curia summary, both polls were taken over a similar time frame: Colmar Brunton August 26 - 31, and Reid Research August 27 - 31.
That is, a period that took in controversy over Winston Peters' superannuation payments and his counter-attack accusing the government of leaks, but only a day of the NZ First's more positive publicity over his plan to move the Port of Auckland to Northport. Neither poll caught the first debate.
Both surveys have similar results for preferred PM, with Mr English a nose ahead for Reid Research (Colmar-Brunton had Ms Ardern on 34% to the National leader's 33%).
Reid has Winston Peters down 3.1 points to 6.9%.
Colmar Brunton had the NZ First leader down three points to 4%.
However, as with other recent polls, Mr Peters remains in the cat bird seat, with neither Labour nor National able to form a government without NZ First support going by Reid or Colmar Brunton's numbers.
As with the Colmar Brunton poll, which had it on 5%, the Green Party is over the MMP threshold in Reid's survey but not by more than the margin of error (+/-3.1%).
And with just 20 days to go before the election, Gareth Morgan's Top (Reid: -0.1% to 1.9%, Colmar Brunton: -1.1% to 1.0%) appears to be out of the running.
