Ngai Tahu gifts common nouns to university

The University of Canterbury is changing the names of two of its main buildings on campus after more than 30 years.

The repaired registry building will now be known as Matariki and the James Hight will become Puaka-James Hight. 

Matariki reopens next week for the first time since the February
