Awarua satellite station joins southern GPS network

Location accuracy will improve to as little as 10cm.

Inmarsat 4F1 satellite will be used to provide SouthPAN services until its replacement with two new satellites.

Space Operations New Zealand’s ground satellite station at Awarua near Bluff is now part of the Southern Positioning Augmentation Network (SouthPAN), which improves the accuracy of GPS to within 10cm.
