Best employers around the country have been identified using confidential feedback from their staff.
Thirty-five businesses came on top as finalists in New Zealand’s largest climate-employee survey – the JRA Best Workplaces Survey 2010.
Winners of the Best Workplace title will be picked in each size category: small, small to medium, medium to large and large.
The survey, which asks staff to rate their employers confidentially, is gaining popularity from year-to-year. This year almost 31,000 employees from 245 organisations across the country took part in the survey, up from last year’s 216.
This year’s finalists include Microsoft New Zealand, AA Insurance, Trade Me and Warehouse Stationery, as well as three not-for-profit organizations: Mercy Hospice, Presbyterian Support Northern and Southern Cross Health Society.
The region with most finalists, outside of Auckland and Wellington, is the Bay of Plenty with three companies – Footsteps Education, Brookfield New World and Sport Bay of Plenty – making into the finals.
JRA managing director John Robertson said the survey benefits not just staff who can “have their say” but also employers.
“Finalists and winners rightly use their result to attract and retain the best staff and improve market perceptions of their organisation,” he said.
The winners will be announced n Thursday, November 11.
