Ogilvy’s Wellington general manager Tony Gardner has resigned from the agency after two years.
Mr Gardner says the agency wanted him to stay but he is ready to move on to bigger things as chief executive of the Orange Group in Auckland.
“I’ve loved my time at Ogilvy and I’m proud of what we’ve achieved. The agency has taken some important steps to better meet our clients needs.”
The Orange Group, according to its website, is a family owned business which specialises in events and experiences.
Mr Gardner says he will start his new role in October, after finalising business in Wellington. He has been in discussions with a replacement but is unable confirm the appointment.
Before going to Ogilvy Wellington, Mr Gardner worked for Saatchi & Saatchi DGS, Saatchi’s digital arm.
Ogilvy NZ has seen a few big players move this year with Auckland joint creative head Damon O’Leary and digital expert Dave Nash moving to Sugar.
The Wellington branch missed out on being a preferred supplier for the Department of Internal Affairs digital providers list. Mr Gardner says he was not aware of the tender.
Ogilvy Wellington was established in 2007 and has focused on government clients such as Kiwibank, the Department of Labour and the Ministry of Education.
It was a separate company until its amalgamation with Ogilvy NZ in 2008.
