Welcome to NBR's weekly Friday afternoon Open Mic thread!

What does it mean to champion success in the modern world? NBR’s Rich List 2017 is a snapshot of New Zealand’s wealthiest and most-effective businesspeople. And for many people, a meritocracy is a useful and accessible standard but others say the effects are discriminatory. Still others argue New Zealand doesn’t even have a meritocracy anymore.

What do you think?

Below are a few related stories about the Rich List we published this week:

Rich List critics blind to capitalism’s creative power

If this doesn’t stoke your fire, post about anything else you want, ask random questions, whatever.

Have fun, readers!
