These Pre-election Economic and Fiscal Update (PREFU) forecasts are always too rosy. The 2017 PREFU did not predict a pandemic. Other Treasury election forecasts failed to predict the Christchurch earthquake or the GFC. Unpredictable shit happens. Long before 2034, perhaps as early as next year,
