Orcon pitch winner announced

Wed, 01 Dec 2010

DraftFCB has won the Orcon business from Special Group after a pitch.

A new campaign is scheduled to be in market early next year, which FCB will work on.

The pitch process was swift.

DraftFCB CEO Bryan Crawford told NBR the agency is naturally excited to have been appointed to the business.

"It goes without saying, of course. We're already getting stuck into the work with the Orcon team across brand, direct, digital and data."

Special Group declined to comment.

Orcon’s head of sales and marketing Taryn Hamilton paid homage to FCB in a statement.

“Draft are a great bunch of people with a superb track record and we’re really excited about working with them.

"Draft offers the strategic ability and skill set that is needed to help Orcon realise its ambitions.

“We’ve done some great work with Special, the Iggy campaign helped put us on the map, and set a great standard for our communications.

“We are all very excited however about the next step in the evolution of the Orcon brand.”

Pead PR retains the PR business. Pead staffer Esmee Dunlop said no further comment would be made at this stage.

The pitch was revealed last month – curiously, as it was only handed to Special Group in August last year.

The agency has shot to fame due to its Cannes grand prix-winning work, which may have also been its death knell.

Insiders reckon Orcon didn't take kindly to Special's PR-fest.
