New Zealand’s leading statutory trust business, Perpetual Guardian, has appointed Matthew Pausina to the role of Business Systems Manager. Mr Pausina, an internationally experienced operational executive, brings 25 years’ experience to the role.
Mr Pausina joins Perpetual Guardian after a long career with HSBC in various roles in Auckland and Hong Kong. Most recently, Mr Pausina served as HSBC New Zealand Chief Operational Officer for eight years. He says, “I developed a broad understanding of operational systems during my tenure with HSBC, and when an opportunity arose to be part of Perpetual Guardian – a company going places – I knew it was a logical move. I will be sharing my commercial expertise and reviewing the company’s operational systems to ensure they continue meet our needs in a period of rapid growth.
“An eight-month stint in ‘start-up land’ gave me a real taste for the entrepreneurial spirit I see in the team at Perpetual Guardian. It is a vibrant organisation, and because it is local, decisions can be made on the ground and quickly. In contrast, global entities can, by necessity, be slower-moving.
“In an age of increasing compliance oversight, there are huge opportunities for Perpetual Guardian and the industry to standardise, simplify and automate much of the frontline and IT processes behind the evolving estate planning services. If I can think ‘what a great day’ at the end of each workday, I know I’m making a positive contribution to the company and the people we serve.”
