Caltex and Z Energy, formerly Shell, have increased the price of fuel by 3 cents a litre, taking regular unleaded petrol to 208.9c at most stations.
The price of petrol at BP stations have gone up 2 cents to 207.9 and 215.9 for 91 and 95 respectively.
BP also increased the price of diesel by 3 cents to 150.9.
All three companies said the price hike was due the rising cost of crude oil but prices would be held in Christchurch as residents grappled with a series of violent aftershocks.
Gull said it had not raised the cost of its fuel and planned to hold current prices "for as long as possible".
