Departing Radio New Zealand journalist Sean Plunket is to front The Nation, a political show on TV3.
Plunket recently resigned his co-host role on Radio New Zealand's Morning Report. He will start with The Nation on August 7.
"This is an exciting opportunity to return to New Zealand television screens and to continue a dialogue with New Zealanders on the issues that matter," Plunket said.
TV3 political editor Duncan Garner will continue to conduct political interviews on the programme.
Plunket has worked in journalism for 25 years. He has been on Morning Report for 14 years and previously worked in the Parliamentary Press Gallery and was a foundation staff member of 3 News in 1989. He has also worked for TVNZ on programmes such as Holmes and Fair Go.
Plunket also writes a monthly column for Metro -- a bone of contention with his former employer.
Plunket had threatened to resign from RNZ several times in the past before finally doing so.
His latest run-in with RNZ went through the Employment Relations Authority, where the broadcaster won a ruling allowing it to ban Plunket from writing the political column while on the public payroll.
