IRD stops those with PIE income only getting cost of living help

The department warned about 204,000 people could get the payment if the eligibility was not tightened.

While the Inland Revenue Department was slow to stop people living overseas receive the cost-of-living allowance, it did act early to ensure those earning just investment income got no help coping with rising inflation.
